The Slack integration posts a message to your team’s Slack when something happens to a lead — a new capture, a status change, a reassignment, and more. Each notification type has its own toggle, channel, and message template. Slack connects at the workspace level: one Slack workspace per Caard workspace, shared by the whole team.

Connect Slack

1

Open Integrations

Go to Integrations in the sidebar and select the Slack card, then Connect Slack.
2

Authorize Caard

Sign in to Slack and approve the request. Caard asks for permission to post messages and list your channels — it can’t read your conversations.
3

Pick a default channel

Back on the integration page, open the Default Channel tab and choose where notifications go. Both public and private channels work.
Connecting requires permission to manage integrations in your workspace. The authorization window expires after 10 minutes — start over if you left it open too long.

Notification types

Configure these on the Notifications tab. Only New lead created is on by default; enable the rest as needed.
NotificationWhen it fires
New lead createdA lead is captured or added to the workspace
Lead status changedA lead moves to a different stage
Lead reassignedA lead’s owner changes
Lead taggedA tag is added to a lead
Note added to leadSomeone adds a note (the message includes a short snippet)
Daily lead digestA daily summary of leads captured in the past 24 hours

Configuring a notification

Each notification row on the Notifications tab has:
  • Toggle — turn the notification on or off.
  • Channel override — send this notification type to a different channel. Without an override, it goes to the default channel.
  • Customize message — edit the message template. Insert placeholders like {{displayName}}, {{email}}, {{company}}, {{leadUrl}}, or event-specific ones such as {{oldStatus}}/{{newStatus}} for status changes and {{leadCount}} for the digest. Reset to default restores the original template.
  • Send test — posts a sample message with example data to the configured channel, so you can check the format before real leads start flowing.
Route noisy notifications like Lead tagged to a dedicated channel, and keep the default channel for New lead created so important captures don’t get buried.

Disconnect

In the Danger Zone tab, select Disconnect. This deletes all notification rules and channel settings — to resume notifications you’ll need to reconnect and configure them again.

Troubleshooting

  • A channel is missing from the picker — the picker lists public and private channels in the connected Slack workspace. If a private channel doesn’t appear, make sure it exists in the same workspace you connected.
  • Messages aren’t arriving — confirm the notification’s toggle is on and use Send test to verify the channel. If the test fails, reconnect Slack from the Integrations page.
  • “You declined the Slack authorization request” — the connection was cancelled in Slack; select Connect Slack and approve the request to finish.
