# Scanning QR codes and business cards

> Capture leads with your phone's camera.

The **Scan** tab in the mobile app is the fastest way to capture a lead in person. It has three modes — switch between them at the bottom of the camera view.

## QR scan

Point your camera at a **LinkedIn QR code** (the one in the LinkedIn app's search bar). Caard detects the profile and pre-fills the lead with the person's name, title, and company.

## Business card

Switch to **Card** mode and frame a paper business card. Caard reads the text from the photo and extracts name, email, phone, company, and job title. The card photo is saved on the lead so you can check it later.

## Event pass

Switch to **Event pass** mode and frame an attendee badge to capture the details printed on it.

<Tip>
  Use the zoom slider for small badges, or pick an existing photo from your gallery instead of using the camera.
</Tip>

## Review before saving

After every scan, a review drawer opens so you can confirm what was captured:

<Steps>
  <Step title="Check the fields">
    First name, last name, email, phone, company, job title, website, LinkedIn, and location. Fix anything the scan got wrong.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add a note">
    Type a note or use the microphone to dictate one — handy on a noisy show floor.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add tags">
    Tag the lead so it's easy to find later, for example with the event name or a follow-up priority.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create the lead">
    Save it, or retake the photo if the scan was unclear.
  </Step>
</Steps>

If you have no connection, the lead is saved on your device and synced later — see [Offline capture](/capture/offline-capture).
